Yelp to Table @ Jedediah Hawkins Inn

Long Island Elite were invited to partake in an immersive experience at the landmark property, Jedediah Hawkins Inn, that combined hands-on learning and a private tour of the bucolic grounds with an opportunity to sample the farm-to-table cuisine of new executive chef, Lia Fallon.

Guests entered the sunny patio area of the Inn and were greeted with a Lemonbalm Daly (lemonbalm infused iced tea, Vertical vodka, fresh lemonbalm leaves and freshly dropped lemonade) before grabbing a light snack from a spectacular cheese spread that included rosemary asiago, montemore, danish bleu and two different varieties of goat cheese.

Next, Pam Hunt, Great Grandaughter of Jedidiah Hawkins, detailed the fascinating history of the Inn on a private tour of the property. While walking the property, sous chef Brian showed Elite the herb garden where many of the ingredients used in the Inn’s dishes were made. Post-tour, the crew headed to the downstairs speakeasy for a wine tasting with Pellegrini Vineyards chief winemaker Tom Drozd. Elites sampled an ’07 Cabernet Franc, which is known as one of the finest years for Long Island wines, and paired it with duck spring rolls, freshly made by Chef Fallon and her staff.

Shira F recapped: “Lastly, we were brought into the kitchen with the sous chefs and executive chef, Lia. The kitchen was large, immaculate, and full of every appliance you could imagine! It was like my own personal heaven. Lia showed us how she made tuna nicoise salad. She used these cool broccoli greens that were very unique! The salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. The tuna was crazy good. It was great to see how passionate she was about her cooking. She was so lovely and it was really kind of her to open up her kitchen to us.” After the demonstration, “we ended the night with some amazing desserts. The trifle with lemon curd, strawberries, rhubarb, and fresh whipped cream was to die for. The chocolate pistachio heaven on a plate was also amazing. And the French macarons? Are you kidding me?! Out of this world. The pistachio one was the best I’ve ever had.”

A sincere thank you to Tom from Pellegrini Vineyards, Chef Lia, Brian, Colin, Rich, Doug, Pam Hunt and the rest of the hardworking staff at the Inn! You can peep all the 5-star reviews here, check the pics from Daanyaal K and
